Tiger King’s Joe Exotic transferred to the federal prison in Lexington

KSR© Nate Billings/The Oklahoman / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images The “Tiger King” documentary on Netflix helped many of us get through the early days of the COVID pandemic, and now its star, Joe Exotic, is a Lexington resident. Well, sort of. Joseph “Joe Exotic” Maldonado is serving 22 years in prison for several charges, including conspiracy to commit murder for hire and nine counts of violating the Endangered Species Act. He had been doing his time in Fort Worth, Texas, but a Facebook post on his official page revealed a transfer to Lexington, Kentucky. His new address, he says, is at Lexington’s Federal Medical Center on Leestown Road. Maldonado is scheduled to be released from prison in 2036. Welcome to Lexington. I guess?
