Thunderstorms and heavy rain set to batter Britain as yellow weather warnings issued with threat of flash flooding

The first Met Office warning will cover most of England and some of Wales. But a second warning is in place from 6am to 10pm on Thursday which covers even more of Wales and moves away from the south towards northern England. The worst hit areas could be pelted with 1.5 to 1.9 inches of rain in just two to three hours on Wednesday. By Thursday the risk of flash flooding may increase as the thunderstorms could become slow-moving across the Midlands, Wales and Northern England. The Met Office has said there is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life. Most read in The Sun It’s also warned of train cancellations, delays and power cuts with drivers told to be aware of road closures and poor conditions. But thunderstorms are fast developing which makes it hard to predict their location and intensity.
