Threw condoms at me: Hyderabad IPS trainee accuses batchmate of assault, stalking

According to the complaint lodged on July 18, the complainant, Suma HK, a 30-year-old IPS probationer undergoing training at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), alleged that fellow trainee Uday Krishna Reddy had subjected her to sustained harassment over the past few weeks.(Photo: Representational)A criminal case has been registered in Hyderabad after an IPS officer trainee accused a fellow probationer of stalking, assault, criminal intimidation and secretly recording a private video without her consent.According to the complaint lodged on July 18, the complainant, Suma HK, a 30-year-old IPS probationer undergoing training at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), alleged that fellow trainee Uday Krishna Reddy had subjected her to sustained harassment over the past few weeks.Based on her complaint, police registered a case under multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 66E and 67A of the Information Technology Act.ABUSIVE MESSAGES FROM BATCHMATEAccording to the complaint, the alleged harassment began on June 23 when the accused sent the trainee sexually abusive messages on WhatsApp and made derogatory remarks about her in front of fellow probationers. She alleged that he repeatedly accused her of being in a relationship with another trainee, pressured her to admit to the allegation and verbally abused her.The complainant also alleged that the accused forcibly accessed her personal mobile phone. She claimed he compelled her to unlock the device and show him her private chats. On July 8, he allegedly took the phone to his room and forced her to reveal its password.FELLOW TRAINEE ASSAULTS VICTIM The complaint alleges that the harassment escalated on July 9, when the accused wrongfully restrained her, forced her into his room and physically assaulted her.She alleged that he pulled her by the hair, attempted to strangle her, held a knife to her neck and prevented her from leaving the room. She further claimed that he threw packets of condoms at her during the incident.The trainee also alleged that the accused assaulted her again on July 10 and attempted to touch her inappropriately.BLACKMAIL ALLEGATIONSIn one of the most serious allegations in the complaint, the trainee claimed that the accused secretly recorded a private video without her consent and later sent it to her husband in an attempt to blackmail her.She also accused him of trying to tarnish her reputation by spreading false and derogatory information about her among others.POLICE REGISTER CASEBased on the complaint, police registered a case under multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges related to assault, stalking, criminal intimidation and outraging the modesty of a woman.Sections 66E and 67A of the Information Technology Act, which deal with violations of privacy and the transmission of sexually explicit material in electronic form, have also been invoked.Police said the allegations are under investigation and further legal action will be taken based on the evidence collected.- EndsPublished By: Aprameya RaoPublished On: Jul 19, 2026 21:31 IST
