Three ways to enjoy the Asian cuisine food craze without breaking the bank

WE’VE bopped to K-pop and now we can shop Korean food too, as it is having its moment. Waitrose has reported a surge in demand for the Asian cuisine, while ramen hashtags on TikTok have more than 1million videos. Try adding a scoop of the fermented veggies to cheese toasties or as part of a green salad. You can also have a go at putting together your own Asian-style soup, using the supermarket’s Vietnamese Pho or Japanese Style Ramen Kits, £2.25. LUNCH DATE: If you fancy eating an epic Asian feast out, try swapping an evening date for lunch to make the most of some top restaurant deals. At Banana Tree outlets, tuck into Southeast Asian favourites such as pad Thai, katsu and laksa, plus a drink, for £10.95, Sunday to Friday, noon to 4pm. Most read in Money Or Wagamama offers certain noodle and ramen dishes, with a soft drink or coffee, for £14 in selected restaurants, Monday to Friday between 11am and 3pm. TAKE AWAY: Asian flavours can make the perfect takeaway treat. Try a supermarket ready meal bundle to save some cash on a traditional takeaway. For example, Sainsbury’s currently offers an Indian meal deal for £15, including two mains such as hot chicken masala or prawn and mango curry, plus two sides. If you do opt for a takeaway, avoid adding extras that you can buy cheaper elsewhere, such as soft drinks or alcohol. And consider going to collect your food to save on delivery fees.
