If you’re a Scottish Power direct debit customer with a smart meter, you can join its MyScottishPower scheme which offers points over set time periods that can be turned into bill credit. Most read in Money Octopus customers who use less electricity at peak times and more during “power up” sessions will earn Octopoints which will be added to your account in terms of credit within a few weeks. You’ll need to have a smart meter and be joined up to Octoplus Rewards to take part. If you’re happy with your suppler, you can bag bill credit by referring a pal with some companies. For example, EDF offers £50 bill credit. DISCOUNT ELECTRICITY: British Gas offers half-price electricity through its PeakSave scheme on a Sunday between 11am to 4pm. The supplier also offers half-price electricity through its PeakSave Green Flex – you’ll just need to opt in to be alerted to these two-hour bursts.
