Three killed in two road accidents in Thrissur

Three people were killed in two separate road accidents in Thrissur district on Saturday (August 1, 2026), including a double fatality in Ollur where an auto-rickshaw was hit by a lorry and later a tourist bus.The first accident occurred around 4 a.m. near Ollur. The victims were identified as Dani (35) of Vellanikkode, Kallur, the auto-rickshaw driver, and his passenger, Majorin (45) of Padavarad, Ollur.According to the police, a lorry travelling towards Ollur reportedly went out of control and rammed into the auto-rickshaw. The impact overturned the vehicle onto the road, following which a tourist bus coming from opposite side ran over it. The auto-rickshaw was mangled in the impact of collisions, killing both occupants on the spot.Police and Fire and Rescue Services personnel rushed to the scene and carried out the rescue operation. The bodies were shifted to hospital for post-mortem examination.In the second accident, a 39-year-old woman two-wheeler rider was killed after being run over by a tipper lorry on the Wadakkanchery flyover around 8 a.m.The victim, Fathima Suhara of Pathamkallu, was travelling with her husband on a two-wheeler towards Wadakkanchery when the accident occurred. Police said the motorcycle was involved in a collision with another vehicle travelling in the same direction on the flyover, causing Suhara to fall onto the road.
