Thousands of M&S shoppers are missing out on free birthday treat – and have just DAYS left to claim

THOUSANDS of Marks & Spencer shoppers are missing out on birthday freebies that are so easy to get. The iconic British supermarket is known and loved for its tasty treats – as well as its Sparks Card loyalty scheme. And its turns out you could be missing out on a free Sparks Card gift every time your birthday rolls around. Sign up for the Money newsletter Thank you! M&S is giving away a record-breaking 920,000 birthday freebies to members this month. But the company says that 60 per cent of Sparks Card members missed out on nabbing their September birthday gift, because their date of birth isn’t logged in the app. And M&S has issued a warning to those with upcoming birthdays, to ensure they don’t miss out, too. Sadly, if you have an October birthday and don’t have a Sparks membership or haven’t registered your birthday yet, it’s too late for you. However, those born in November have just days to register for their birthday treat. The loyalty scheme requires members to add their date of birth to their account at least 35 days before their birthday, in order to be eligible. Most read in Money So if you’re a November baby, you have until September 27 to tick this off. Your Sparks birthday reward will then be added to your app automatically at the start of your birthday month, ready to be claimed in-store. Wondering what you’ll be in for? Birthday treat recipients can choose from a range of M&S favourites. Percy Pig and Colin the Caterpillar sweets, grapes, blueberries, cookies, Swiss chocolate truffles, shortbread and even sometimes Champagne, are among the rewards on offer. Comment now
