This video DOES NOT show Rahul Gandhi's 'Chhatron Ki Goonj' in Indore

Continuing his student outreach programme, Rahul Gandhi spoke at his “Chhatron Ki Goonj” event in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore on September 19. A video of a massive crowd gathering on a bridge and below it, now going on social media, purports to show students gathered for the same event.An X user shared the video with the caption, “What was that, Indore! A city known as a BJP stronghold just witnessed an unbelievable wave of love, energy and enthusiasm for Rahul Gandhi. The streets roared. The students showed up. And Indore made its voice heard. You didn’t just make a moment today, Indore — you made history.”India Today Fact Check found that the video is old and unrelated to Rahul Gandhi’s event. It shows a rally held in Indore on August 9 to mark World Tribal Day. OUR PROBEReverse-searching the video’s frames led us to the Facebook account “Vinoddj Vlog”, which shared the same clip on August 10. In the comments, the account confirmed that the video was filmed during Adivasi Diwas (Tribal Day) celebrations in Indore. This video featured the coaching institute, Dhristi IAS.We also found another video from the same location, shared by a YouTube channel on August 9. This channel also stated that the video shows a massive crowd during Tribal Day celebrations in Indore. We also came across a vlog showing the Tribal Day rally in Indore, uploaded to YouTube on August 9. This video featured the coaching institute, Unacademy.Using Google Street View, we found the Drishti IAS and Unacademy buildings were located on opposite sides of the Agra-Bombay Road in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.According to a Dainik Bhaskar report, thousands participated in a rally on World Tribal Day in Indore on August 9.All these findings confirmed that the viral video is old and unrelated to the Rahul Gandhi event. Notably, back in August, India Today Fact Check debunked another such video, which was actually from Mexico.CROWD AT ‘CHHATRON KI GOONJ’ IN INDOREWe watched the Indore “Chhatron Ki Goonj” video on Rahul Gandhi’s YouTube channel and found that the venue was full. The X account of Madhya Pradesh Congress also posted a drone video of the venue, which showed people gathered outside the venue.
