The result comes just a day before the compact SUV's official launch on July 24, with dealership displays also offering the clearest look yet at its updated exterior design and refreshed cabin.The facelifted Brezza scored 30.41 out of 32 points for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and 43 out of 49 points for Child Occupant Protection (COP), earning a five-star rating in both categories. The Bharat NCAP assessment was carried out on the Brezza ZXi+ 1.5-litre automatic variant, with the ratings also applicable to several 1.5-litre manual, automatic and the upcoming 1.0-litre turbo-petrol variants.With this result, the Brezza joins the growing list of five-star-rated Maruti Suzuki models under Bharat NCAP, underlining the company's increasing focus on vehicle safety as competition intensifies in the compact SUV segment.Closest look at the Brezza before launch Front of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift (Photo: Instagram/@princegujrati_1044) Ahead of its official unveiling, the updated Brezza has already begun arriving at dealerships, giving prospective buyers the closest look yet at the SUV's redesigned exterior. While the overall silhouette remains familiar, the facelift introduces a revised front fascia featuring a new grille, redesigned bumper and updated fog lamp housings. Higher variants are expected to sport a gold-finished grille, while a larger silver skid plate-inspired insert lends the front end a more rugged appearance. The side profile remains largely unchanged apart from a new set of four-spoke alloy wheels, while the rear gets subtle revisions including updated LED lighting elements and minor bumper tweaks.Turbo-petrol engine headlines mechanical updatesThe biggest change underneath the bonnet is expected to be the introduction of Maruti Suzuki's 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine. Already offered in the Fronx, the three-cylinder unit produces 100bhp and 148Nm of torque. Recent dealership displays indicate the engine could be paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, marking the first time the Brezza will be offered with a turbo-petrol powertrain. The existing 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and factory-fitted CNG option are expected to continue alongside the new turbo variant.Interior design The updated Brezza offers a bigger infotainment system. A larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is expected to headline the changes.Other expected additions include ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging, ambient lighting, a revised climate control interface, front parking sensors, an auto-dimming inside rear-view mirror, an electric sunroof, a powered driver's seat and Level-2 ADAS on higher variants. Revised trim finishes and upholstery are also expected to give the cabin a more premium feel.Rivals and launchThe facelifted Brezza will continue to compete in one of India's most fiercely contested segments, taking on the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Kia Syros, Mahindra XUV 3XO and Skoda Kylaq.Bookings are already open for a token amount of Rs 11,000, with deliveries expected to commence soon after the official launch.
