Bookings for the hybrid SUV open today, October 9, with customers required to pay a token amount of Rs 21,000 to reserve the vehicle through the company’s official website or authorised dealerships.The new Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160 will mark the debut of Renault’s E-Tech strong-hybrid technology in India. The model combines a petrol engine with electric motors to deliver a claimed balance of performance and fuel efficiency, without requiring external charging.Renault Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160: Powertrain detailsThe upcoming Duster hybrid is powered by a 1.8-litre petrol engine paired with two electric motors and a 1.4 kWh battery. The combined system output stands at 160bhp. The powertrain is coupled with an intelligent multi-mode transmission that automatically manages the operation of the petrol engine and electric motors according to driving conditions.The system can run on electric power under suitable conditions, recover energy during braking and deceleration, and switch between electric and combustion power as required. The battery recharges while driving, eliminating the need to plug the SUV into an external charging source. With an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency figure of 29 kmpl, Renault is positioning the Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160 as an alternative for buyers seeking the efficiency of a diesel-powered SUV with the benefits of hybrid technology.Renault Duster: Existing engine optionsThe hybrid will join the existing Duster range, which is currently offered with two turbo-petrol engine options.
