This Korean electric SUV with 526km claimed range is launching soon in India

Kia recently unveiled the Syros EV ahead of its price announcement, bringing up to 526km claimed range, two battery pack options, a lifetime battery warranty and Level 2 ADAS to the compact electric SUV segment.Kia India recently took the wraps off the Syros EV, its second mass-market electric vehicle for the Indian market. Alongside the unveiling, the company has opened pre-bookings for the electric SUV at a token amount of Rs 25,000, with prices set to be announced closer to the start of deliveries. The Syros EV is expected to be launched this month.The biggest highlight of the Syros EV is its claimed driving range. Equipped with the larger 51.4kWh battery pack, the SUV delivers an ARAI-certified range of up to 526km (MIDC Full), making it the first vehicle in its segment to cross the 500km mark. Buyers can also opt for a 42kWh battery, which offers a claimed range of 443km on a single charge.The extended-range version is powered by an electric motor producing 171bhp, making it the most powerful offering in its class. Kia claims the Syros EV can accelerate from 0-100kmph in just 8.1 seconds.The SUV also supports 100kW DC fast charging, allowing the battery to be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in 39 minutes. It also gets a battery conditioning system that helps optimise charging performance in different weather conditions. Lifetime battery warrantyTo make EV ownership more attractive, Kia is offering a lifetime high-voltage battery warranty for up to 15 years with the Syros EV. The company is also introducing an assured buyback programme and a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) financing option aimed at reducing the vehicle's upfront purchase cost.The Syros EV is integrated with Kia's K-Charge ecosystem, providing access to more than 20,300 charging points across 23 charge point operators through a single wallet on the MyKia app. Kia has also installed DC fast chargers at over 129 dealerships and established more than 275 EV-ready workshops across the country.EV-inspired design and premium cabinThe Syros EV adopts Kia's latest electric vehicle design language, featuring the brand's Digital Tiger Face, Star Map LED lighting signature, aerodynamic alloy wheels and flush door handles.Inside, the SUV is equipped with a 30-inch Trinity Panoramic Display that combines the digital instrument cluster, infotainment touchscreen and climate controls into a single layout.Other premium features include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a Harman Kardon eight-speaker audio system, over-the-air software updates, ventilated front and rear seats, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, a 16-litre front trunk (frunk) and 100W USB Type-C charging ports.ADAS and safety featuresOn the safety front, the Syros EV comes with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) featuring 16 autonomous driving functions. These include forward collision avoidance assist, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane keeping assist and driver attention warning.Other safety equipment includes a 360-degree camera, blind view monitor, parking collision avoidance assist, six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), hill-start assist, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), all-wheel disc brakes and an electronic parking brake with auto hold.VariantsKia will offer the Syros EV in seven variants across its two battery options.The 42kWh version will be available in HTK, HTK+ and HTX trims, while the 51.4kWh Extended Range model will be offered in HTK+ ER, HTX ER, HTX+ ER and X-Line ER variants. Customers will also be able to choose from nine exterior colour options.With a segment-leading claimed range, premium feature list, lifetime battery warranty and extensive charging ecosystem, the Kia Syros EV is set to strengthen the Korean automaker's presence in India's fast-growing electric SUV market.
