A content creator shares her regular meal plan that helped her shed kilos and had room for this dessert too.A woman shared her weight loss diet plan and it had chocolate (Photo: Anandita Bitolia/Instagram)New Delhi,Oct 7, 2026 13:00 ISTWhat to eat and what not to eat is a dilemma when it comes to weight loss. And one of the first things that comes to mind is cutting sugar. That mostly translates to steering clear of your favourite mithai, chocolate and desserts.Well, Anandita Bitolia, a mother and social media content creator, claims to have lost about 25 kg in about six months, and chocolate has been a regular part of her diet. Hold the bewilderment. Not just any regular chocolate, but dark chocolate.Bitolia often shares glimpses of her everyday life on social media, from the diet and fitness routine that helped her lose weight to slice-of-life videos capturing the realities of juggling motherhood. In one of her videos shared online, she revealed her diet plan. She captioned the post, "Meals I ate on repeat everyday to lose 25 kg (100 kg to 75 kg)." As per the caption, she had a proper four-course meal plan charted out. And dessert was a part of it.Weight loss meal plan For her first meal of the day, Bitolia had two slices of multigrain bread with three egg whites. Her second meal was brown rice with dal, along with a source of protein such as chicken breast, paneer or eggs, and a side of salad.Post-workout, she had a protein shake. For her fourth meal, she opted for one jowar or oats roti with dal, chicken breast and salad. And for dessert, she kept things simple with one piece of dark chocolate. Now, in addition to these meals, she also drank a minimum of three litres of water every day. Whenever she felt hungry between meals, she had an iced Americano or green tea as well. Adequate hydration is often recommended by experts to support hydration and overall health. And it wasn't just diet for her. Exercising was a pillar too. She worked out for 45 minutes every day and added another 20 minutes of cardio, mostly walking or incline walking. While diet, exercise and being consistently disciplined are all part of the weight loss journey for several people, dark chocolate might surprise a few.Experts consider dark chocolate healthy, but in moderation.Speaking to India Today earlier, Vani Krishna, chief nutritionist at Manipal Hospital, Varthur, explained how dark chocolate may support weight loss."Dark chocolate, particularly varieties with 70% cacao or higher, contains powerful polyphenols that have been shown to stimulate the release of satiety hormones such as GLP-1 and PYY. These compounds help reduce appetite and curb cravings for both sweet and fatty foods. It is recommended to choose dark chocolate which is at least 70 to 80% cacao solid."She also further explained that dark chocolate may help with heart health and antioxidant properties, making it a valuable addition to a balanced diet when consumed in moderation.“I would suggest dark chocolate is healthy as it contains the richest dietary sources of flavanols, including epicatechin and catechin. It is proven to reduce oxidative stress, improve vascular function, and help to lower inflammatory markers.”Now, all things said and done, there's one point that Bitolia emphasises: "I am not a dietician and am just sharing my personal journey, please check with your doctor if you have any long-term health concerns," she wrote. And this disclaimer is of paramount importance – what worked for her may not necessarily work for everyone.- Ends
