The extraction and souls-like genres are both quite punishing on their own, and Mistfall Hunter is a game that combines them both. Much like the typical extraction gameplay, you lose your items if you get eliminated during a round, but this is combined with a constant battle where you have to dodge the enemy's attacks. This makes each raid quite daunting, and you have to pay attention to everything that you can use to your advantage. The game also has a high skill ceiling, but once you understand these simple tips, you'll likely start winning most of your encounters regardless of whether they're against NPCs or real players. Check Your Surroundings Thoroughly One of the biggest tips that you can get in any extraction game you play is to check your surroundings thoroughly. These games have a bunch of locations that might not seem like they can be looted, but they sometimes spawn items within them. For Mistfall Hunter, you can identify the loot spots with a glow on them. However, since it's daytime during the raid, this glow can easily be missed. It's recommended to get close to each wall that you're passing through and look towards the items on the ground. If anything gives you the loot option, you should always check it since even the low-tier spots have a chance of spawning rare items. You'll be taking most of the items for your first few raids anyway since they're required for the later stages of the game. Try To Learn The Map As you level up in Mistfall Hunters, you can do a raid on two maps: Hallowgrove and Brandrgarde. These maps are unique and it's important to learn the layout of both. While Hallowgrove focuses more on linear gameplay, Brandrgarde has a lot more verticality to the map. Moreover, Hallowgrove can be played in both solo and trio mode while Brandrgarde can only be played in the latter. If you want to play solo on this map, you can uncheck the "Fill Team" option, though you'll still be fighting Trios on it constantly. In general, it's important to learn the map layout to make your runs efficient and to help yourself during battle against other players. Understand Different Audio Effects In a game like Mistfall Hunter, audio can be just as important as the things you see on the screen, and sometimes even more. This is because the game tells you what's around you even if you can't see it because of a wall or other blockages. For example, the enemy that shields other enemies makes a specific singing sound, and it's important to defeat it first. However, the audio truly shines when it comes to another player. You can hear a distinct footstep sound when a player is moving around you. This can be heard in a decent radius if they're walking, but the radius gets smaller if they crouch. Similarly, your footsteps can be heard by another player in the same radius. If an enemy player is in stealth near you, you'll instead hear a heartbeat that gets more aggressive as they get closer. It's important to keep these audio effects in mind if you don't want to get ambushed by another player. Learn The Enemy's Attack Pattern The tips so far are based on the extraction part of Mistfall Hunter's gameplay, but there's one tip that's crucial for its souls-like part. If you've played a game from this genre before, you'll already know that learning the enemy's attack pattern is the key to beating the game, and that's why you end up getting eliminated a lot of times. It's not as easy to get eliminated by normal enemies in this game since they don't deal as much damage and you have a lot of healing, but elite bosses and Mist Lords can still defeat you easily. Hence, it's important to constantly do raids and learn their attack patterns since these enemies drop many rare loot items. Pay Attention To Your Skill Tree Based on your attention during each raid, you get some EXP at the end. You can earn more EXP by surviving longer, completing quests in the raid, or defeating tougher enemies. This EXP helps you level up your character, which then unlocks talent points at specific levels. When you're leveling your first character, you'll also unlock many new features like Victory Wine, Auction, and Shop. Each character you make has a separate level that starts from one, and you eventually have to level them all up, which is the main progression system of the game. However, when you do level them up, it's important to focus on your skill tree and get the right skills that help you win your battles, especially against other players. Upgrade Your Camps Regularly When you reach level six on your first character, you'll unlock the main part of Gyldenblod Pool and camp upgrades. You can access these upgrades by interacting with each building inside your camp, but you can also see them together by pressing Tab and heading over to the Camp tab at the top. Every building inside your camp can be upgraded to a certain level, and each upgrade takes some materials alongside Gyldenblod. If you don't have certain materials, you can exchange them at the Auction as well. These upgrades are necessary as they can unlock high-tier gear, more characters, and general upgrades that you can use in your raids. Try To Challenge Higher Difficulty When Possible A few hours into Mistfall Hunter, you'll start breezing through most of the content, especially on the normal difficulty of Hallowgrove. This is mainly because you get used to the enemy's attack patterns and get overall upgrades. However, the loot you get on this difficulty is mediocre, and you should always try to give yourself a challenge. If you're starting to find normal difficulties too easy, you can try the Chaos difficulty of Hallowgrove or Cataclysm for Brandrgarde. If you're a solo player, you can also try doing some normal Brandrgarde runs to feel the thrill and get high-tier loot. Learn What Other Classes Do In the beginning of Mistfall Hunter, you'll choose one class and stick with it until it's fully upgraded, since it's important to learn everything about at least one class in the game. However, it's equally important to know roughly what every other class does since you don't choose the class of the player that you face. For example, Mercenaries and Withered Knights are great at tanking damage, while Shadowstrix excel at closing the distance and outmaneuvering you. We recommend that you look at the general skills each class can use and their upgrades so that you always know what you're up against.
