These are the four artists competing for the 2026 Turner Prize as exhibition opens in Middlesbrough

Updated: 25/09/2026 - 13:59 GMT+2 Four artists have been shortlisted for this year’s Turner Prize: Marguerite Humeau, Kira Freije, Tanoa Sasraku and Simeon Barclay. ADVERTISEMENT ADVERTISEMENT Their work is now on display at the Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art (MIMA) in northern England, with works exploring everything from animals and survival to memory, society and personal experience. The exhibition features Humeau’s Torches, Freije’s Unspeak the Chorus, Sasraku’s Morale Patch and Barclay’s The Ruin. The £25,000 prize will be awarded in December, while the exhibition runs at MIMA until January.
