Following Indo-Tibetan Border Police Director-General Shatrujeet Kapur’s comments about recent face-offs with Chinese troops in Arunachal Pradesh, several videos allegedly showing them have gone viral. In this article, we will debunk three such videos. Notably, as of October 27, no video actually showing these face-offs has been released or acknowledged by the Defence Ministry.THIS VIDEO IS FROM KAZAKHSTANThis video allegedly shows shots being exchanged between India and China in Arunachal Pradesh. Reverse-searching its frames led us to a Kazakhstan-based Instagram account called Tactical Federation. The account posted the same video on July 28 and noted in the caption that this was a training session for Special Operations Forces at the Koktal training ground in Zharkent. Kazakhstan. We noticed "AOK-CCO" written on the soldiers’ vests in the viral video. On the official Instagram account of the Special Operations Forces of Kazakhstan, we also found the same acronym on uniforms. This proves that the viral video is neither recent nor from India.VIDEO FROM 2025This video allegedly showed an Indian soldier captured by China’s People's Liberation Army at Bangong Lake. There is no Bangong Lake in Arunachal Pradesh. However, there is Pangong Lake in Leh that extends past the Indian border into Tibet. This video was posted by an Instagram account on December 18, 2025, which confirmed it predates the recent face-offs in Arunachal. News18 reported on December 16, 2025, that an Indian soldier, unable to breathe at high altitude, fainted at the Line of Actual Control in Ladakh. Chinese soldiers reportedly provided him with medical assistance. The report also said that, as per China, the assistance was provided on friendly ground.PROTEST AGAINST SIANG DAM PROJECTThis video allegedly showed a confrontation between people of Arunachal Pradesh and Chinese soldiers. We found this video shared by several Arunachali news outlets on September 29 and 30. Reportedly, the video showed locals protesting at Beging Village against the Siang Multipurpose Dam project.A National Herald report from October 25 featuring a screenshot from the video said that after violence during protests against the proposed 11,200-megawatt Siang Upper Multipurpose Project, the Centre has deployed two companies of the Central Reserve Police Force’s Rapid Action Force, comprising around 250 personnel, in Arunachal Pradesh.Notably, a video of an older protest against the same dam project also recently went viral with similar claims. India Today Fact Check debunked it.Thus, it is clear that none of these videos has anything to do with the reported India-China face-offs in Arunachal Pradesh.- Ends
