The Witcher 4 Official Update Is Music To Our Ears

Sign in to your ScreenRant account I get excited every time I get to write these words: The Witcher 4 is coming! It's a real game that's being made, and will one day be in my hands. As somebody who has put nearly 500 hours into The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, this is a very good thing indeed. In a recent update from CD Projekt, we learned how things are going with the next installment in The Witcher franchise, and it's sounding pretty damn exciting. Considering The Witcher 3 is probably one of the greatest RPGs of all time, there's a lot riding on the sequel. The Witcher 4 Is Full Steam Ahead All hands on deck According to the most recent update from CD Projekt, there are 519 developers currently working on The Witcher 4, and another 184 on the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077. For comparison, "a little over 200" in-house developers worked on The Witcher 3, according to CD Projekt RED joint CEO Michał Nowakowski. I should point out that this doesn't necessarily mean The Witcher 4 will be more than twice the size of The Witcher 3 — that's not how it works! But it is a promising signal in regard to the game's scope and ambition. What this means for The Witcher 4 release date is anyone's guess, of course. Nowakowski recently set expectations with regard to seeing the game shown off at The Game Awards again this year, confirming the RPG will not be present this time around. “I’m very happy to see The Witcher 4 nominated in the Most Anticipated Game category at The Game Awards,” Nowakowski saidt. "Thanks to everyone who has already voted – your support means a lot to us. We won’t be bringing any new content to TGA this year, but we’re, as always, excited to watch the show and celebrate this amazing industry’s great night alongside all of you.” We can take from this that The Witcher 4 will not be releasing in 2026, and will probably be a few years yet. Cyberpunk 2077's Sequel Is Also Coming On All this waiting is hard If you think the wait for The Witcher 4 is hard, just imagine being a Cyberpunk 2077 fan. There's absolutely no chance we'll be going back to Night City this decade, and while development is clearly stepping up, I can't imagine Cyberpunk 2 will be with us until the mid-2030s at the absolute earliest. Making games is hard, you guys. For now, we'll just have to look over what little of The Witcher 4 we currently have, and hope it's enough to keep us going over the long nights to come. The Witcher 3 Remastered Will Keep You Busy The best news, at least for now, is that we'll be able to occupy ourselves while we wait for The Witcher 4 with a full, free remaster of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. This is a huge upgrade packed with changes, including improvements to combat, visuals, RPG systems, and so much more. It officially releases tomorrow (September 29) and sets the stage for a brand-new expansion landing in 2027 called Songs of the Past, itself designed to get us ready for The Witcher 4.
