It's been 11 long years since the original Witcher 3's release, and now developer CD Projekt Red is giving us the previous DLC for free, leading into the 2027 release of The Songs of the Past. The main enhancements are visual and performance-focused, with a massive lighting rework and more detailed environmental textures. Path tracing is available on PC, while PS5 Pro support utilizes PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) to enable 60 FPS with ray tracing. The skill system has been simplified, combat animations have changed, the UI has been reworked, and there are many other smaller perks, like a better photo mode. It also offers up some free item DLC, which you can grab pretty easily if you know where to look. How To Unlock Free Witcher 3 Remastered DLC The very first thing you need to do to unlock the free DLC for The Witcher 3 Remastered is link your CD Projekt Red (CDPR) account to your copy of the game. This option will pop up as soon as the game launches and is available on the main menu in the lower-right-hand corner of the screen. Once you do that, you'll unlock the following items: Armor of A Thousand Flowers (same item as the OG version, but a different delivery system) Scarlet Crest Armor A new modern-style haircut for Geralt (Rabble-Rouser hair) Two swords (including White Widow of the Valley of Flowers) After that, you'll need to actually track down these items in Vizima (Temeria's capital). Here's exactly where the game tells you to look: "This item will be waiting for you in the Royal Palace in Vizima. Check the letter from Yennefer in your inventory for help locating it." First, complete the tutorial (with Vesemir), then the White Orchard region initial quest (which functions as the prologue). Then head to Vizima. All you need to do is leave the throne room and head through the covered walkway in the courtyard. Turn right, then go to the first door on the left. Under the window is the chest, where you can find a ton of gifts, including the new DLC added in the remaster. If you can't find it and get lost in the royal palace (which can happen), you can talk to the Chamberlain, and they'll help you locate it. How To Transmog In The Witcher 3 As a reminder, The Witcher 3 now has a transmogrification (transmog) mechanic called "Reforge" in the game. You can do this with Hattori the Weapon Smith in Novigrad (Glory Lane) or Yoana the Armor Smith in Velen (Crow's Perch). Once you've talked to them and completed their introductory quest, you can swap armor and weapons at will without Geralt being tied to their stats. In other words, you can have Geralt walk around looking like he's wearing light armor but actually using heavy plate defense. To do this, just speak to either smith and choose "Reforge." You'll need to spend Crowns (the core currency of the Witcher world), so keep that in mind before you start using transmog on a tight budget. Pretty much every open-world RPG player I've ever known (myself included) is into transmog, so if you're looking to change up how Geralt looks in The Witcher 3, you can do it very easily, and with some new gear from the remaster to boot.
