"Revenge of Ofir is an unofficial expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, developed by enthusiasts from different countries," the team explained in a first look posted to YouTube. "Do you remember that toad prince in the sewers of Oxenfurt? The one Geralt fought with? After the fight, Geralt was captured and thrown into a cage on a ship sailing somewhere, until Gaunter O'Dimm summoned a storm and saved him. And then Geralt finds himself on a beach, and you're thinking that you're somewhere far away — you were sailing on a ship, weren't you? — only to discover that you're just across the strait from Oxenfurt. Were you disappointed back then? We were too. So, here is Ofir!" The trailer shows us a glimpse of the new desert region, custom main menu art, and Geralt riding through a sandstone town nestled within a giant canyon, even getting swept up in a sandstorm and fighting shadowy figures that appear almost in mourning, rather than attacking like your typical Witcher monsters. You can see it for yourself below. This Fan-Made Expansion Even Brings Back The Official Polish Voice Of Geralt It's a monumental undertaking for a fan project, but the video shows just how much thought was put into telling a narrative that fits within The Witcher 3 — it's not awkwardly stapled on top of the game, but woven into the existing story, taking place after Blood and Wine and serving as an unofficial continuation of Geralt's story. "When the time of the White Frost comes, do not fear the yellow snow," the team teased. "There is no snow in Ofir. The events take place after the 'Blood and Wine' expansion. Geralt has retired and started making wine in Corvo Bianco, but he gets involved in yet another story. This time far away, in Ofir, where things are far from peaceful after the heir to the throne died. It's important to mention that our project is not 'Sands of Ofir'. We haven't used any of its author's work. But as you can see, this region is completely new, and a lot of time has been spent working on the locations, developing new lore and cultural elements. And you're going to see some of these elements very soon." Indeed, the team confirmed that "if everything goes according to plan," Revenge of Ofir will launch in 2027. "We're getting two DLCs next year after all," they continued. "A great time to be a Witcher fan. We've done a lot already but, just to be clear, we still have a lot we want to do. So we need more time to implement everything we've come up with." Of course, the expansion also comes with a new Gwent card. The project is being spearheaded by a modding team of roughly 30 people, including musicians who are composing new tracks better befitting the region. It even comes complete with Polish dubbing, and best of all, Jacek Rozenek — the official voice of Geralt in the Polish localization — is reprising the role. It might be fan-made, but that makes it snap all the more naturally into the game.
