They pride themselves on their consistently thorough research, leveraging nearly a decade of industry experience. You can reach them at James.t@thegamer.com One of The Witcher 3's best writers, Karolina Stachyra, left CD Projekt Red shortly in 2016 for a new role at Techland, where she worked as Lead Narrative Designer and later Narrative Director on an unannounced new fantasy IP. Now, after a decade, she's back. Stachyra had already been serving as a freelance consultant from February to July for CD Projekt Red. However, as spotted by X user b0ysbrokenheart, she quietly updated her LinkedIn in August to confirm that she had returned to CDPR as a full-time "expert writer." It's unclear what project Stachyra is working on, but given her history with the franchise, you'd certainly hope that she's back for The Witcher 4. Stachyra Wrote The Bloody Baron Quest, Hearts Of Stone DLC, And 40+ Quests Credited with writing the iconic Bloody Baron quest (which former Lead Features Editor Jade King wrote a brilliant article dissecting back in 2021), Stachyra's work on The Witcher 3 is impressive, to say the least. She helped with “creating the main storyline and side content (side quests, minor quests, community chats, books, letters, scrolls within the game), writing dialogue, [the] player's journal, descriptions of monsters and characters, [and] tutorials and tooltips.” Her portfolio also credits her with narrative design and dialogue for more than 40 quests, and that's not to mention working on the narrative design for Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine's main storylines, including Whatsoever Man Soweth and La Cage Au Fou. Of course, CD Projekt Red has changed considerably since The Witcher 3 launched in 2015, and the studio is now juggling several major projects, including The Witcher 4, a remake of the original The Witcher, and the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel. Stachyra's return doesn't confirm that she's working on any particular project, but it's no wonder fans are excited to see her back at the studio given her experience with The Witcher, and hopefully she can lend a hand in passing the medallion to Ciri. The Witcher 3: Remastered launches in just two days, and if you want to revisit the game and replay Stachyra's brilliant Bloody Baron quest for the ten millionth time, you can grab it half price right now for $24.99, with all the expansions now included.
