Warning: SPOILERS ahead for The Terminal List season 2!The Terminal List season 2 has officially replaced James Reece's original pairing with a new duo that makes the series even stronger. Released four years after the show first debuted, The Terminal List season 2 follows Reece after the harrowing events of season 1, having finished his list and achieved his revenge against those whose actions led to the deaths of his wife, daughter, and Alpha Platoon. The new episodes follow Reece as he's enlisted by the CIA to stop a new, technologically-advanced Al-Qaeda, which could grant him a full pardon. Season 2 is very different from The Terminal List season 1, having a major focus on Reece as he becomes embroiled in a military-style conflict that takes him all over this world. This is a far cry from season 1, where Reece's mission kept him within the boundaries of the United States. Another key difference is that he no longer has reporter Katie Buranek by his side, given his state as a fugative-turned-CIA asset. While she still shows up, her story no longer qualifies the pair as the core duo of the show. Instead, Reece's story runs in parallel to that of another fellow Navy SEAL whose involvement becomes critical to the development of the larger plot: Raife Hastings. A long-time friend of Reece with his own experiences, Hastings quickly gets enveloped in the plot against Al-Qaeda after a number of weapons he's supposed to be brokering are stolen by the terrorist organization. The pair's individual investigations run side-by-side, making them the new core duo of season 2, tied together by their military experience. Raife Hastings Is The Terminal List Season 2’s Secret Weapon Amazon / MGM Studios Hastings was originally introduced in The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, a prequel series where he worked alongside Ben Edwards in a covert CIA program. This same program is what introduced him to Mo Farooq, a former ISOF member whose heel-turn to seemingly become an ally of Al-Qaeda is a core focus of The Terminal List season 2. Reece and Hastings work together well, their friendship palpable despite the limited screen time they shared in the previous show. It's made more prominent by just how well Hastings works as his own protagonist. Much of Hastings' work in The Terminal List season 2 is done alone, as he slowly becomes embroiled in a project called "Kestrel" that begins to put his life in danger. Interestingly, he works alongside Katie for the majority of the show, becoming the core US military presence for the series in the process. His no-nonsense attitude coupled with a swift sense of justice makes him a joy to watch, as he's constantly dispatching villains in a creative fashion. He's just like Reece, but with development that makes him stand out on his own. Will Raife Hastings Return In The Terminal List Season 3? Image via Prime Video Hastings' importance in The Terminal List season 2 is just a taste of how important he'll be in the future should the series continue sticking to the stories of Jack Carr's novels of the same name. If The Terminal List season 3 happens, it will pull from the pages of Savage Son, where Hastings has a major supporting role right alongside Reece. Season 2 increased the amount of involvement he has in contrast to the book series at this point in the timeline, solidifying him as an important part of the franchise's future. Hastings also has a number of connections that could make a broader focus on him with his own journey an interesting path to traverse. This includes his father's land in Rhodesia and his past as a member of the Selous Scouts. Since The Terminal List has a 10-year franchise plan, it's not outside the realm of possibility for Hastings to have a more independent outing at some point. As his involvement in season 2 shows, he's a perfect addition to the series and makes for a strong parallel to Reece's storyline.
