The Strokes Bring Out Charli xcx at Outside Lands for “Take It or Leave It”: Watch

Charli xcx joined The Strokes onstage at Outside Lands in San Francisco Saturday to perform “Take It or Leave It.” Watch fan-made video below. The British pop star traded vocals with Julian Casablancas on the song from The Strokes’ 2001 debut LP Is This It before the two came together for the chorus. Casablancas told the crowd the band had a “superstar” guest prior to Charli xcx walking onto the stage. “We had a great battle,” The Strokes singer said, referencing the same-day album releases. He jokingly got down on a knee and told Charli xcx “Congratulations. Consequence gave high marks to both records, declaring Charli xcx’s latest LP “one of her greatest albums yet” and calling The Strokes’ effort “always interesting, consistently rewarding,” as well as “wildly engaging.” Both records made Consequence’s Best Albums of July 2026. The day before her cameo with The Strokes, Charli xcx headlined the first night of Outside Lands. After the duet rendition of “Take It or Leave It,” Casablancas told the crowd Charli xcx won the record sales battle. “She won by a lot,” he said. “She’s a giant pop star in our defense.” Outside Lands continues August 9th and can be streamed live. The Strokes are on tour in the US and Canada through August and September before a series of international dates.
