The Sports Equinox 2026: When MLB, NBA, NHL and NFL Come Together (Sponsored)

It doesn’t necessarily happen every year, but the Sports Equinox is always a special occasion for sports fans! This year’s Sports Equinox will occur today, Monday, October 26, 2026. What is the Sports Equinox? The World Series already gives baseball fans a reason to clear their Monday night, but tonight, NFL, NBA, and NHL join the schedule, creating a Sports Equinox: all four leagues playing on the same day (see the full schedule here). The Sports Equinox usually happens in October, when the NBA has just begun its regular season and the MLB is holding the World Series. Other sports leagues like MLS, NWSL, and WNBA can also get involved, although that is not necessary for it to be an Equinox. The first Sports Equinox took place on October 17, 1971, and today will mark the 33rd in sports history. What makes the 2026 Sports Equinox different? This year’s Equinox will be the first Sports Equinox to ever occur on October 26. October 27 and November 1 are tied for the most Sports Equinoxes in history at 3 occurrences each. Monday (15.6%) is the rarest day of the week in Sports Equinox history, with Sunday accounting for over 62% of equinoxes in history. And while Monday is the rarest day of the week, the last four (including this one) have all been on a Monday.
