A SIMPLE holiday booking hack you might not have thought of could save you hundreds of pounds. Some travel providers will price match the cost of your holiday if it becomes cheaper before you go. They will usually pay you back the difference, with some offering to price match up to £500. These are the travel companies offering price matches… Haven Holidays You could money off your Haven Holidays break just by using its webchat Haven Holidays has a Price Promise that lets you get money back if the trip you booked becomes cheaper before your stay. Essentially, if the price of your holiday goes down on the Haven website after you have booked then you can get a refund for the difference. If you see your holiday at a cheaper price, all you need to do is open a web chat with Haven Holiday. You can then request Price Promise when prompted. The automated process is available 24/7 and you just need your booking reference number, and the email address and phone number you used to book. Most read in Money Savvy savers on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains Facebook group said they had already used the price match to claim back money. “I did it last year and got £100 back in less than a week,” one person said. Another said they just got £76 back, while a different person added: “Yes, got refunds (several reductions) last year and again this year.” You can use the Price Promise more than once if the price keeps going down. You’ll be eligible if you booked your holiday directly with Haven and your booking confirmation states you’re eligible for the Price Promise. You must apply at the time you see the cheaper price, as Haven won’t retroactively match prices. The holiday must be for the same park, dates, package, duration, accommodation type and number of guests. It must also still be available to book online. You must claim before the start date of your break. Loveholidays If you’ve booked a package holiday then you’ll be eligible for the Best Price Promise Credit: Getty Loveholidays goes a step further and says it will price match other travel providers, too. The Best Price Promise lets you get money back if you can find your holiday more than £10 cheaper than the price you booked it at. You’ll also get an extra £5 back per person. All of its package holiday combos fall under the Best Price Promise. However, there is a catch – you must make your request within seven days of receiving your booking confirmation. That means if you booked months ahead and see your trip decrease in price closer to the time, you won’t be able to use the Best Price Promise. To get the price match, the cheaper offer you’ve found must be publicly available online and bookable at the time of your claim. Competitors must hold a valid ATOL licence, and the price must include all fees but no discounts or promotional codes. All details must match your loveholidays booking, including the party size, whether it’s refundable or not, dates, duration, flight times, flight numbers, extras, transfers, hotel, room type, number of rooms and board basis. Loveholidays says it will match up to a £500 difference. To claim, you need to provide a clear screenshot of the cheaper package and a full URL link to the offer. TUI TUI will give you money back if you can find your holiday cheaper with another provider Credit: TUI TUI offers a Price-Match Promise to customers for 72 hours after they’ve made their booking. The holiday firm says it will match the price of any other package holiday with TUI flights, as long as all the details are the same. After you’ve booked your holiday, you have 72 hours to find the same holiday and submit a claim. You’ll need to fill out a form and attach a screenshot of the cheaper holiday you’ve found. TUI will then review it and get back to you if your claim has been successful. The cheaper trip must be a package holiday that departs on the same TUI flight as the one you’ve booked, or any other TUI flight to the same destination that departs within three hours of the original flight. The holiday should be for the same hotel, board basis and room type, and the same number of nights. The number and ages of customers on your booking should also be the same. Credit: Getty On The Beach has a Price Drop Protection promise for selected holidays. The promise covers city breaks and beach holidays, and it will pay you back the difference if you can find the same holiday for a cheaper price on its website. The guarantee is available up until 60 days before your holiday. Just be aware you’ll get a voucher for the difference rather than cash. On The Beach says you can download its app to make a Price Drop Protection claim. Just check if your holiday is eligible and click on it to claim. You’ll then receive the credit directly in your wallet, which you can apply to your next booking. Thomas Cook Make sure you get in quick to make use of Thomas Cook’s Price Match Guarantee Credit: Thomas Cook Thomas Cook provides a Price Match Guarantee too, but it’s only available for 24 hours after booking. The travel firm says it will refund you the difference if you see your exact holiday cheaper with another provider. The competitor must be a UK-based online travel website. To make a claim, you must email pricematch@thomascook.com within 24 hours of receipt of a booking confirmation. You’ll need to provide your Thomas Cook booking reference number, contact details and details of the cheaper quote. You should also supply a screenshot of the cheaper quote. If you’re successful, you’ll get a refund credited to the same card you used to make the booking. The Price Match Guarantee applies to flight and hotel bookings, and the details must be the same as your Thomas Cook holiday. That means your party size, departure date, duration, flight, booking extras, hotel and cancellation terms must stay the same. The person who made the original booking must make the claim.
