It’s well known that teasing plays into many people’s desires – whether they’re watching porn or enjoying themselves at home. A glimpse of said crack, is almost a tease of more to come. For Sarah Berry, psychosexual and relationship therapist, she reckons it’s simply an extension of our long-held love for the bum. She tells Metro: ‘Bums have been lusted after for as long as humans have been around. ‘Lots of people like things such as spanking, farting, corprophilia (pleasure involving poo) and feederism (a sexual interest where individuals are aroused by gaining weight), meaning someone might be particularly into a jiggly bum). ‘The 90s are back in fashion and that likely brings low rise jeans and what was once, troublingly named, the tramp stamp. On one thread debating whether or not butt cracks should be considered sexy one user,@bepis_drinker, shared: ‘A visible bum crack drives me crazy.’ Another user added that ‘sometimes, it’s a glimpse at the forbidden.’ A final individual, @cat_stacker, hypothesised: ‘Butts wouldn’t be sexy without the crack – it’d just an ass-marshmallow.’ Of course, butt cracks don’t do it for everyone. One user seemed totally shocked that anyone would find this body part alluring, writing: ‘I personally think it’s never attractive because it evokes sloppiness instead of sexiness.’ With the UK still reeling for three lengthy heatwaves, I can definitely empathise with the sloppy sentiment.
