The One About Matthew Perry: Netflix announces 3-part documentary on Friends star

Matthew Perry's life and legacy will be explored in a new three-part Netflix documentary, The One About Matthew Perry. The series will feature never-before-heard memories from people who knew the Friends star closely, along with unseen material from his family's private archive.The documentary, directed by Emmy winner Mary Robertson, is set to premiere on October 27.Perry became a global star as Chandler Bing in Friends, which ran for 236 episodes between 1994 and 2004. His comic timing and self-deprecating humour made Chandler one of the show's most popular characters.Away from the sitcom, Perry was also open about his struggles with addiction, which he discussed publicly for several years. He died in October 2023 at the age of 54 following an accidental overdose. The series will also explore his personal struggles through accounts from family members, friends and creative collaborators.It will feature previously unheard testimony from Perry's sister, Mia Perry Bowick, as well as unreleased photographs and videos from the Perry family's private collection. The series has been directed by Emmy-winning filmmaker Mary Robertson and produced by Maxine Productions, a Sony Pictures Television company.The executive producers are Mary Robertson, Lisa Kalikow, Eli Holzman and Aaron Saidman.
