The new allegations against Josh Jacobs could create a credibility issue

Published November 1, 2026 10:16 AM Friday’s release of police records in the Josh Jacobs case brought to light allegations made by three other women against the Packers running back.It also creates a problem for Jacobs, based on the things he may have said to the league.Although there has been no indication that the league has summoned Jacobs to Manhattan for a formal interview in advance of the potential imposition of discipline (that’s often the final step in the investigation), it’s possible — if not likely — that the NFL has had conversations with Jacobs before and/or during his six-game stint on paid leave. One obvious question to ask Jacobs is whether the incident for which he pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery charges was a one-time thing, or whether it has happened before. If the question was asked, and if Jacobs said there are no other incidents, the emergence of new allegations will impact his credibility in the eyes of the league.Even if the NFL’s effort to explore the new allegations goes nowhere (the league has no subpoena power to compel cooperation by the others who spoke to the authorities in Wisconsin), the mere existence of three additional claims will make the league view anything Jacobs has told them more skeptically. Regardless of how it plays out, the evidence of the other claims against Jacobs reshuffles the deck, both for the league and for the Packers. The fact that they’ve been linked to trade talks for Colts running back Jonathan Taylor suggests that the team is already considering whether to move on from Jacobs. If they do, he could have a hard time finding a landing spot, given the new allegations. So, yes, it’s a real problem for Jacobs. Even though his lawyers have issued a statement downplaying the development, it complicates his standing with the league, with the Packers, and possibly with any other team that could eventually be considering whether to offer him a roster spot, if/when he’s no longer a member of the Green Bay organization.
