The Longtime Production Crew of ‘American Idol’ Has Reportedly Been “Blindsided” by Georgia Move

American Idol is packing its bags and ditching Los Angeles for a new home in Georgia, and apparently the crew has been left blindsided by the move. The Sun reports that many longtime members of the show’s production team could lose their jobs and be replaced when the show relocates.“Some team members were given a heads up about the move but many of the crew members found out about the production changing to Georgia just as it became public,” a source says. “A lot of people were blindsided, they are now out of a job.”While “most of the crew will no longer be part of the show and they will hire new teams in Atlanta,” some producers will work from Los Angeles and get a second home in Georgia.American Idol kicks off its Peach State era in season 25 (which airs in January 2027), and if you’re wondering why they’re leaving L.A., The Sun speculates that it could have something to do with “tax incentives of up to 30 percent for qualifying productions.”As for the show’s on-air talent, Ryan Seacrest and Luke Bryan are both from Georgia, while Lionel Richie and Carrie Underwood are also from the South—meaning they all have ties to the general area.
