It’s why so many games are launching in September this year, and why November is pretty much barren for video game releases besides Rockstar’s next big title, and a new Barbie game. Nobody wants to be caught up in GTA 6 fever and have their game flop. However, there is one company out there that has always marched to the beat of its own drum, bucking industry trends whenever it can, and that’s Nintendo. We have a couple of games from Nintendo that are yet to get release dates, and it’s been hinted that its biggest — the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time — may be raining on the GTA 6 parade. Ocarina of Time Might Be Duking It Out With GTA 6 Rockstar There are a couple of reasons for this, the first one being that we recently got Ocarina of Time Remake’s ESRB rating earlier this week. You don’t usually get those until a game is relatively close to releasing, so it does signal that the game will be launching at some point in 2026 as the game’s initial reveal trailer suggested. That just leaves the very important matter of which month Nintendo is going to pick, and for that one, a Reddit user called Gaysaucemage reckons they have the answer. In a post on the Gaming Leaks And Rumors subreddit, they shared their observation that Nintendo recently revealed listings for two new Amiibo that it’s planning to release on November 11, those being Sword Kirby and Dragoon and Noir Dedede and Hydra. Granted, they have absolutely nothing to do with The Legend of Zelda, but as has been pointed out, Nintendo usually drops Amiibo on the same day as first party releases, most recently Dedede and Tank Star releasing on the same day as Rhythm Heaven Groove. Right now, Nintendo has no scheduled releases for November, and the only one in the chamber we actually know of is the Ocarina of Time remake. That is very much speculation — as this would make the game’s release a Wednesday/Thursday, which is a little odd — but if it’s true, then the game would launch about a week before GTA 6. That would pretty much signal that Nintendo doesn’t see GTA 6 as much of a threat, and is going to do its thing regardless of what the surrounding industry is doing. It kind of makes sense too, as you’d have to imagine the crossover between GTA 6 and Ocarina of Time would be fairly minimal. It also makes sense to have both games released close to the festive period, as both would make fine gifts and will definitely have a strong tail in terms of sales. And, if there’s anything that could go toe-to-toe with GTA 6, it would be a remake of what many still believe is the greatest video game of all time.
