Sign in to your TheGamer account We only have a little more than six months until The Legend of Zelda movie is released in theaters. That’s provided everything goes to plan, and fans of the franchise are starting to worry that all might not be well with the project due to recent developments, or in some cases, a lack of them. Zelda Movie's Instagram Account Only Lasted A Week Nintendo/Sony The latest development that has Zelda fans questioning whether the movie will be delayed or outright canceled is the creation, and then deletion, of its Instagram account. An official account for The Legend of Zelda movie was created earlier this month. However, as spotted by Zelda Updates on Twitter, that account has already either been deleted or deactivated. The official account that has disappeared is not the unofficial tlozmovie account that remains active. The curious case of the disappearing Instagram account, combined with the little we have been shown of and told about the movie, now has fans fearing the worst. Some are speculating that the movie might have been delayed past its April 30, 2027, release date, while others are questioning whether the project may have been scrapped entirely. Even though the film is only six months away, we still know surprisingly little about it. We were told that Benjamin Ainsworth and Bo Bragason will play Link and Zelda a long time ago, and then Nintendo confirmed that the movie will simply be titled The Legend of Zelda during the franchise’s 40th anniversary Direct earlier this year. We Really Don't Know Much About This Movie Shigeru Miyamoto promised that the reason for choosing a title that doesn’t focus on any specific Zelda game will become clear when we see the movie. Either that means it will draw inspiration from throughout the Zelda timeline, or it will be an entirely new story that, while set in Hyrule, doesn’t follow the events of any Zelda game we have played so far. Deleted Instagram account aside, we probably have a few more weeks before we really need to worry about the status of the Zelda movie. It will be the third big project Nintendo has released after two Mario movies, and since both of those also released in April, we have a good idea of when exactly Nintendo likes to release its first trailers for movies on a timeline that ends in the spring. The Super Mario Bros. Movie was released in April 2023, and we had been shown its first trailer by this point in 2022, but only by a matter of days. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie was released in April of this year, and its first trailer wasn’t released until November of last year. I’d say that if you find yourself opening the first door on your advent calendar and we still haven’t seen a Zelda movie trailer, then you can start to worry. Until then, just enjoy Ocarina of Time on Switch 2. The remake’s release is less than two weeks away. Perhaps Nintendo is waiting until after that to kickstart the hype for its Zelda movie.
