The Legend Of Zelda Major 2027 Release Officially Confirmed As New Chapter Begins

It's no secret that it's a very big year for The Legend of Zelda franchise as a whole, as the beloved fantasy series celebrates 40 years since those first pixels nervously tottered onto our screens. As part of that, fans have been expecting some pretty big announcements from Nintendo to mark the occasion, and things have really started to get moving on that front. The big news has obviously been confirmation of the 2026 release of the long-awaited Ocarina of Time remake, with more information expected on that in short order. The movie is also continuing production, and there's still plenty of time left for more exciting announcements before the year draws to a close. As first reported by GoNintendo, toy manufacturer Hasbro has confirmed they have just signed a new licensing partnership with Nintendo to create products based on the Legend of Zelda franchise. It's a multi-year collaboration that's set to release its first items in 2027, with the first reveals of three 6" scale figures set to go ahead at San Diego Comic Con between June 23 - June 26. Billy Lagor, President Toys and Board Games at Hasbro, shared a brief statement on the new deal, which should come as exciting news to physical collectors. "For decades, The Legend of Zelda franchise has captivated fans through its deep lore, unforgettable characters and enduring sense of discovery,” said Lagor. “By combining Nintendo’s iconic storytelling with Hasbro’s leadership in action and role-play, we’re delivering toys that invite fans to play, explore and forge their own epic adventures.” Though we obviously don't have any details yet on just how expansive they are planning on making this new range, it will likely include quite a few products, given how long the deal is mooted to go on for. They should also slot in nicely at a more economical level than other items we have seen produced for Zelda, which often tend towards a more premium price point. September is currently being picked out by fans as the time to look forward to for more news. Given Ocarina of Time's release date at some point this year, that should serve as the ideal time for a full reveal, if they go ahead with a launch around November time. That would leave Zelda and Nintendo laughing in the face of any potential clashes with the GTA VI audience, though in fairness, they are very different games indeed.
