The Last Of Us Meets Fallout In New RPG You Can Play Free

However, both TLOU and Fallout haven't had a new entry in a long while, which, naturally, has forced fans to look elsewhere. While we've had several teasers for The Last of Us Part 3, and Fallout 5 looms vaguely on the horizon, what fans should really be paying attention to is a brand-new RPG that fuses the two together to create what could end up being a fantastic RPG experience. Dead Zone Revive Is Coming To Steam There are plenty of great games like The Last of Us, but few that merge it with Fallout's mechanics and visual style. Frankly, it makes sense to combine the two, as not only are both post-apocalyptic-focused action titles, but they also both put a greater level of importance on storytelling, even if Fallout's is slightly less linear and more sporadic. One would imagine that a zombie-themed Fallout game would do well, as, while it has its own version of the undead, it doesn't quite cut it. Fortunately, Dead Zone Revive aims to ostensibly bridge the very small gap between The Last of Us and old school Fallout to deliver something that resembles the two. For those who don't remember or weren't into isometric zombie shooters back in 2012, Dead Zone Revive is a fan-made recreation of the original The Last Stand: Dead Zone multiplayer title, that was shut down at the beginning of 2021. Made with the official licensing permission of the original game's developer, Con Artist Games, this fan made project will be entirely free-to-play. It is a not-for-profit fan project that basically exists to preserve the original The Last Stand: Dead Zone experience through platforms like Steam, Epic Games, and its own dedicated website. Of course, what really matters is how Dead Zone Revive is anything like Fallout or The Last of Us, beyond visual similarities. Fortunately, for fans of the old school Fallout games and, naturally, TLOU, this may just be the perfect game to play with friends. If You Like The Last Of Us, Check This Out Dead Zone Revive sees players attempt to build up their base, recruit survivors to help bolster said base and locate resources, form alliances with other players and factions, and generally survive against the endless hordes of zombies lurking beyond. Of course, fans of Fallout 4 or Fallout 76 will instantly feel at home with Dead Zone Revive's base building mechanics and survivor management, as that is much of what Fallout 4 especially encompasses beyond its main story and side quests. For those who love that side of Fallout, Dead Zone Revive will serve as the perfect distraction before Fallout 5's upcoming release date, as well as another multiplayer title to enjoy between Fallout 76 playthroughs. Additionally, as aforementioned, those who love the old school aesthetic of Fallout 1 and 2 will love the grungy, dark, moody, and retro look of Dead Zone Revive. Naturally, the zombies, survival, and resource scavenging will also appeal to The Last of Us enthusiasts, as too will the grimdark world, penchant for violence, and losing those you're trying to protect. There's plenty for fans of both franchises to enjoy here, and those who feel a little apathetic toward them both. The fact that it is completely free-to-play without microtransactions on Steam is a win for all players. It is also an added bonus that the game can be played right now, for free, on your browser via the official website. However, for those who would rather play through Steam, Dead Zone Revive is set to combine the best elements of Fallout and The Last of Us when it releases on August 3, 2026.
