‘The Inbetweeners’ creators confirm not every character returns for Netflix sequel

The creators of The Inbetweeners have confirmed that not everyone from the series will be returning for the recently announced third film. Reports had emerged that a feud between Emily Atack and James Buckley were holding back the production, although nothing was officially confirmed. Now, creators Iain Morris and Damon Beesley took to Instagram to give an update on the progress of the new story. “As you probably know, we’ve started filming a new Inbetweeners adventure,” they wrote, alongside an image of the cast reading scripts. “We love that everyone is interested, and it’s brilliant that these four idiots are still considered news.” “The rumour mill can sometimes get carried away, so our advice is simple: if you want to fully enjoy what we’ve got in store for you, we’d suggest avoiding photos and conjecture about the story,” they added. “We promise it’ll be a more enjoyable watch going in knowing nothing.” They then confirmed that some of the original cast from the series won’t be returning. “For the record, we’d like to clarify that, try as we might, we couldn’t squeeze every single beloved character from the TV shows into this new film,” they said. “That’s on us, and us alone. Again, people will speculate about why we make these choices, but sadly the truth is we just couldn’t find a plausible way in the script to bring back all our lovely ‘friends’.” The Inbetweeners 3 will be distributed by Netflix, with a release date yet to be announced. Morris and Beesley will be writing and directing the film together. Recently, cast member James Buckley shared a social media post that appeared to spoil certain plot points about the new film.
