The hunt for GTA 6's leakers escalates as Take-Two subpoenas Microsoft and Discord

The company has petitioned both Microsoft and Discord to release information related to online accounts associated with posting and sharing leaks of the anticipated game, including user data and associated OneDrive and Xbox accounts (via Kotaku). "The copyrighted material includes but is not limited to audiovisual content, artwork, images, dialogue, or other creative elements," reads the subpoena. "Take-Two, through its counsel of record, has submitted a sworn declaration confirming that the purpose for which the DMCA subpoena is sought is to obtain the identity of an alleged infringer or infringers, and that such information will only be used for the purpose of protecting Take-Two's rights…" The subpoena gives Microsoft until September 4th to produce "all internal Microsoft business records and investigative records" related to the tech giant's internal investigation of the "cyberleek persona sufficient to identify the "user(s), person(s) and/or entity/ies associated with that persona." Discord also has the same deadline to provide records related to servers that involve several usernames, including "CYBERLEEK," "CINEMATICROCKSTAR," "Surfer24k™," and several other Discord servers and usernames. YouTuber Matthew "Matt" Judge, also known as DarkViperAU, is mentioned in the documents. Judge posted breakdowns of the leaked GTA 6 footage in several videos this week. Following Kotaku's coverage of the subpoena, Judge swiftly denied any involvement in the recent GTA 6 leaks. The group is also encouraging people to buy a cryptocurrency meme coin to vote on which GTA 6 clip it should release next. The website hosting Cyberleaks' leaked GTA 6 clips is currently down. While it initially seemed that Cyberleek only had access to recorded footage of GTA 6, a video recently released that shows a player writing "LEEK" in bullet holes, suggesting that the leakers have access to a playable build of the game. This means that it's possible significant story spoilers could soon appear online. Leaked footage includes knife combat, a cutscene featuring a character, a dirt bike, flying a plane, and a lot of driving. Rockstar and Take-Two have not released an official statement about the GTA 6 leaks. Grand Theft Auto 6 is roughly three months away from its console release on November 19th, 2026, and its timed exclusive Netflix reveal is set for next week.
