It's common practice for Magic: The Gathering to drop additional Secret Lair drops alongside the launch of new Universes Beyond sets, and for The Hobbit, this is no different. During MagicCon Amsterdam and the Secret Lair reveal-a-thon, we got a look at previews for an all-new Hobbit superdrop that includes some stunning new card designs and an entire wave of food tokens to cover every single mealtime, including second breakfast. These bundles will be on sale alongside the full launch of the main set, so make sure the dates don't get lost in your diary. The Hobbit Secret Lair superdrop launches on Monday, August 17, 2026. This is in line with other Secret Lair drops, as they are typically done on a Monday, and this one is being done to line up with the launch of the main set on Friday, August 14. All five bundles will be live at the same time, although we only have two of them confirmed (right now), but we'll keep you updated with the remaining drops and their prices as the news is revealed. The Hobbit Marvelous Mathoms Superdrop Cards And Prices The upcoming Hobbit Secret Lair collection is called A Marvelous Mathoms Superdrop, a term coined by Tolkien himself (sans the superdrop part). It will include five unique sets of cards, largely featuring reprints with new names and artwork. No mechanically unique cards have been revealed so far, but there's still time for a surprise or two. Second Breakfast And Beyond The first drop we have fully confirmed is Second Breakfast and Beyond, which is entirely food tokens, but with a brilliant twist. This bundle features seven food tokens, each one representing a different meal time during the day or night; they are: Breakfast Second Breakfast Elevenses Lunch Afternoon Tea Dinner Supper It's rare for the entire bundle to be just tokens, let alone all food tokens, but this particular drop fits the theme of The Hobbit so well, and it got a great reaction during the reveal at MagicCon. This bundle will cost $29.99 for the nonfoil version and $39.99 for the foil variants. Over The Edge Of The Wild This bundle contains five cards, one of which includes a new name and artwork while the other four are just new artwork. Each card has claymation-style artwork, making scenes from The Hobbit look like they were designed by Aardman Animations. The cards in this bundle are: Cloudshift Quite a Merry Gathering [Tocasia's Welcome] Stony Silence Imp's Mischief Seize the Spoils Taking the lowest price of each card, there's only around $10 of reprints here, which is a little low, and most of this value is in Imp's Mischief. The art style, however, makes up for a lot of this, as does the weight of The Hobbit as a property. This bundle costs $29.99 for the nonfoil version and $39.99 for the foil variants. Remaining Drops We're expecting the remaining drops to be revealed in the coming days, but we've already seen some cards that will be included in them, such as the incredible black and white Diabolic Intent, a silver foil Arcane Heist, and, of course, a Sol Ring. Tips For Buying A Secret Lair Bundle If you've never purchased a Secret Lair bundle, or haven't had much luck in the past, here are some steps to follow and give yourself the best chance of grabbing the next bundle you take an interest in. Make sure you have a Wizards account or know your details (email/password). Sign up for the reminder link at the bottom of the Secret Lair website. The waiting room will open at 8 am PT on the launch day; you can pre-order the deck in your basket at this point before being placed into the first queue. At 9 am PT, the waiting room will close, and all participants will then be randomized into another queue to complete their purchase. Have payment details to hand so you can check out as quickly as possible. Just because you gain entrance to the site doesn't guarantee the drop won't sell out before you complete payment.
