The show, which was created by Downton Abbey's Julian Fellowes, is a period drama set in New York City in the 1880s that follows a new money family attempting to navigate the world of old money during an ever-shifting period full of technological advancement and cultural change. The Emmy-winning show's ensemble cast includes Carrie Coon, Morgan Spector, Cynthia Nixon, Taissa Farmiga, Denée Benton, Louisa Jacobson, and Christine Baranski, among many more. The Gilded Age season 4 was officially renewed in July 2025, and it is now set to debut on November 1. Shortly ahead of the season premiere, Rotten Tomatoes has now aggregated enough critics' reviews of The Gilded Age season 4 for it to earn an official score on the Tomatometer. While the score could fluctuate as more reviews are added, at the time of writing, it has earned a perfect 100% score from seven different critics' write-ups. This marks the best Tomatometer score ever for the series, which earned 79% for season 1 and has continued climbing since then. Below, see a breakdown of the ratings for each season of the series on Rotten Tomatoes, including the scores awarded to it by audience members on the Popcornmeter: Season Tomatometer Popcornmeter The Gilded Age season 1 79% 60% The Gilded Age season 2 94% 64% The Gilded Age season 3 96% 86% The Gilded Age season 4 100% - Currently, the average score from critics' The Gilded Age season 4 reviews is 8 out of 10, which likewise marks the best of the series. Season 1 had an average score of 7 out of 10 while season 2 averaged out at 7.75 out of 10 while season 3 earned 7.8 out of 10. While no review for the new season has given it a perfect score just yet, it did earn a score of 9 out of 10 from ScreenRant's own John Orquiola, who said that it "delivers on all fronts while conjuring surprising new pairings, situations, and rivalries that will keep fans wildly entertained." It remains to be seen what score the new season earns on the Popcornmeter once it debuts and viewers are able to contribute their own ratings and reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. However, if the current trend continues, it could very well break the series record on that front as well. Choose the movie with the higher Rotten Tomatoes score. The show has set itself up for success in that the premiere episodes see the story having reached an all-time dramatic high with the cliffhanger ending of The Gilded Age season 3. Should the premiere stick the landing, it could result in an explosion of goodwill toward the series that results in one of the most-watched seasons yet. While there is no guarantee that The Gilded Age will continue for season 5, if the show breaks those additional records, it could prove to HBO that it is still a very hot commodity, cementing its future. Should that be the case, it is highly likely that news about season 5 could drop relatively soon, as both seasons 2 and 4 were renewed partway through the runs of the previous seasons (season 2 was renewed a full month before the season 1 finale), while season 3 was renewed just four days after the season 3 finale aired in December 2023. The Gilded Age season 4 debuts on HBO on November 1, with episodes airing weekly on Sundays. Release Date November 1, 2026 Network HBO Series The Gilded Age Episodes 8
