While not quite as hard sci-fi as The Expanse (it has an octopus companion that pilots a mech), it incorporates a lot of real science into both its narrative and gameplay to deliver a more grounded science-fiction experience. It is also an extremely cinematic sci-fi epic, one that couples character-driven storytelling and meaningful choices with expansive lore and worldbuilding, not unlike The Expanse. It also heavily leans into the concept of time dilation, utilizing real science to impact the choices that players can make. Of course, time dilation plays a big role in Project Hail Mary and serves as a defining component of its emotional narrative core. Exodus appears to be one of the first big-budget sci-fi games to utilize the scientific concept to heighten the stakes of the player's choices, much in the same way that it affects the decisions characters like Project Hail Mary's Grace and Interstellar's Cooper have to make.
