New Xbox CEO Asha Sharma revealed she had been at the Bethesda offices to watch a live playthrough of The Elder Scrolls 6, and said that "the scale and grandeur are incredible. The story is even greater." Her tease to fans also gave us the biggest clue to the game's subtitle, as in her tweet, she called the game "The Elder Scrolls VI: ********" It's these asterisks that have driven The Elder Scrolls fans mad, and in the hours since Sharma's tweet, imaginations have been running wild about what the next title will be called. For as long as the game has been in the public's consciousness, fans have been trying to guess the full name of The Elder Scrolls 6. Two of the most popular suggestions, Hammerfell and High Rock, have seemingly, maybe been disproven. Sharma's tweet suggests the game's subtitle will contain eight letters if the asterisks are to be believed (which, of course, she and Bethesda could be having us on), therefore ruling out two of the most popular theories. It has, however, opened the door to dozens more, with fans speculating what it could be. The overwhelming theory across social media is that the next game will be called "The Elder Scrolls 6: Sentinel". Sentinel perfectly matches the eight asterisks posted by Sharma, which is the first key point, but it runs deeper. The Elder Scrolls 6 was originally codenamed "Project Guardian", and a sentinel is another name for a guardian. It would also fit the series' common theme of naming games after locations. Daggerfall, for example, was named after a capital city, and Skyrim, after the region. Sentinel is the capital city of Hammerfell, the rumored region for the game. Another popular suggestion was Balfiera, a historically vital part of Tamriel that houses the oldest known structure. Dominion also got some love, with a suggestion that the main story follows the Aldmeri Dominion. However, while there were plenty of solid predictions, some opted to have some fun, with The Elder Scrolls 6: Newvegas and The Elder Scrolls 6: Skyrim 2 as some of the better options. Of course, as previously mentioned, Sharma could be trying to throw us off the scent of the game's real subtitle; however, it's exciting to consider either way.
