The quizzer, known as The Dark Destroyer on the hit ITV game show, said he had his backpack nicked at St Pancras International station last month. He detailed the theft during an appearance on a New Zealand radio station, saying he had some of his most prized possessions stolen. Having returned from filming an advert in the French capital, Wallace said he was getting a taxi when the crime was committed. The barrister told Coast Breakfast this week: ‘I had three pieces of luggage, put two of them in the back. The taxi driver went round to the front, and I had my rucksack with me. ‘Some guy came up to me and said, “Oi mate, you dropped a card at the back!” I was like, What are you talking about? So I ignored him, but he was insistent. The bag also had his Gucci perfume and his two car keys inside, explaining: ‘I couldn’t find my original car keys, so I thought, let me bring my spare set. I had them both there.’ Radio host Jase Reeves joked that Wallace’s account sounded like an insurance claim, suggesting he might have also had pilfered ‘all your diving equipment, your welding gear and golf clubs’. ‘It’s sadly endemic in relation to, if you’re not aware of what’s happening around you, that’s when they strike’ (Picture: ITV/REX/Shutterstock) ‘And a partridge in a pear tree. It’s in there,’ Wallace quipped. Co-host Toni Street asked Wallace whether he believed he had been deliberately targeted. Wallace said he didn’t think he had been recognised, adding: ‘It’s sadly endemic in relation to, if you’re not aware of what’s happening around you, that’s when they strike.’ It comes after Paul Whitehouse was set upon by a stranger in London, while attempting to use a cashpoint. The moment the funnyman was shoved away from the ATM was caught on CCTV from across a busy London road.
