The Blood Of Dawnwalker Will Get 60fps Mode On Most Console Platforms

Following Backlash, The Blood Of Dawnwalker Devs Reveal 60fps Mode On Console Published Aug 24, 2026, 7:39 AM EDT Sign in to your TheGamer account Last Friday, we got another look at The Blood of Dawnwalker's gameplay. This showed the game running on PS5 Pro, PS5, and Xbox Series X. It also revealed what graphical settings will be at our disposal, and more specifically, the limitations console players will be under. Controversially, it was revealed that The Blood of Dawnwalker would launch with two modes - neither of which could go higher than 40fps. That was even true for PS5 Pro, which has the same fps cap as the weaker PS5 and Xbox Series X. Now, developer Rebel Wolves has addressed the backlash and reassures fans that this cap shouldn't be in place on launch day. The Blood Of Dawnwalker's Performance Mode Should Reach 60fps On Launch Day On social media, Rebel Wolves announces that another setting will be added in a launch-day update. "The Blood of Dawnwalker will receive a Performance Mode targeting 60 FPS on PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X on Day 1 through the launch patch," the post reads. The devs then explain how this update was already planned, but the response to the console performance reveal made it clear that this needed to be a priority. "Performance Mode was already in the works, but it was still being tested," the devs say. "We simply weren’t ready to promise it yet. We heard your feedback. It was clear how much this mattered to many of you, so we focused on finishing the next round of tests. Those results gave us the confidence we needed to confirm Performance Mode for Day 1." So, this wording suggests there has been a change of plan, with the 60fps update originally being planned for post-launch. It is surprising to see that they've managed to bring it forward to launch day so quickly, especially as they must be incredibly busy making the final tweaks on the game in the rush to launch. It's also worth noting that the performance on Xbox Series S still hasn't been addressed. We weren't shown any Series S footage in the recent gameplay preview, and it's now clear we won't be getting a 60fps mode on this weaker hardware. That's not too surprising, but it remains to be seen how it performs on the console. All of this goes to show that many are unwilling to go back on the idea of 60fps being the new benchmark. Towards the start of this console generation, that seemed to be the direction we were heading in. However, as it's progressed, games have struggled to reach that consistently. We might see more games try to compromise with 40fps, but they're going up against a playerbase who doesn't want to go back to how things were.
