More importantly, he's still waiting for a new Ape Escape game to release. Arc Raiders: Frozen Trail is the latest DLC for this popular extraction shooter. Players can now experience a new map, weapons, ARC enemies, quests, map events, and loot to find. The latter may not be exciting, but all the new materials added are key to getting both your Outpost and new Research Workbench up and running. One of these key items is Steel Cables, which are heavily used when adding different sections to your Outpost and crafting Ziplines. If you're struggling to locate this item, here are some of the best places to look for it! Where To Find Steel Cables Steel Cables are a Rare-tier item found on the Pendola Pass map. Unlike the vast majority of materials in the game, Steel Cables aren't classified under any specific item category. While this may make hunting them down on paper fairly tricky, you can actually find them quite consistently in specific spots. On Pendola Pass, I recommend looking in the following areas: Cielo Sereno Observatory Railyard Railroad Junction Of these locations, Cielo Sereno Observatory is far and away the best and most consistent option. Despite being Technological and Exodus-focused, there are a surprising number of Steel Cables just lying around. Located in the northeast corner of the map, when you arrive, you will want to make your way inside and then into the maintenance tunnel system that runs under the floors. In these tunnels, you'll find numerous breechable steel boxes that typically have at least one Steel Cable inside. Additionally, you'll want to check all the toolboxes and storage containers, as these also have a chance to spawn this material. It's not a guarantee, but I usually average between 2–3 Steel Cables after thoroughly searching in this location. Keep in mind, this area is typically quite popular, so you'll almost always find it picked over if you arrive late. If that's the case, I recommend hitting some of the other locations. Additionally, this area has a chance to spawn a Shredder inside and a Leaper patrolling the exterior. Make sure to be careful, as the combat nature of this point of interest makes it easy to get cornered and killed. Some alternatives while you're running around are the Railyard and Railroad Junction. For the former, you will want to make your way to the large building where all the trains are housed. Inside, you can find numerous crates and containers that can be looted, some of which have a chance to spawn Steel Cables. I would stick away from the actual train cars, as these typically have more residential items and valuables. As for the latter, the main place you want to look at Railroad Junction is the building that has frozen doors. While you can melt this away with fire-related weapons and grenades, this ice can also be shattered by hitting it several times with your pickaxe. This is obviously slower, but it's a cheap way to get into these structures without wasting anything. You'll find a few breechable containers here that have a chance to spawn Steel Cables. I've also heard that the Fallen Emperor is a decent place to find Steel Cables, however, this has been quite inconsistent for me during my testing. Plus, a lot of the best loot is locked away inside the machine, which makes this not an easily repeatable strategy if you're specifically farming this item. How To Buy Steel Cables If you're not looking to find Steel Cables the old-fashioned way, you can actually just outright buy five of them a day from Celeste. Costing 20 Seeds each, this can be a good way to quickly get a bunch of Steel Cables in a pinch. While I recommend always grabbing them while you explore around Pendola Pass, buying Steel Cables directly from the trader is a nice way to amass what you need to upgrade your Outpost.
