One thing that hasn’t changed about these phones, though? We still think you should slap a case on ’em. Whether you’ve bought your new iPhone or are just thinking about it, it may be wise to think about what case you plan to pick up with it. After all, a new case protects your phone, but also styles it: color, shape, material, and weight all make a difference.Now it’s worth noting that the chassis of the 2026 iPhone Pros are very similar to their stellar predecessors. So similar, in fact, that you can use an iPhone 17 Pro or Pro Max case on the 18 Pro and Pro Max. (If you’re upgrading annually, you can literally use the same one.) That said, we imagine most upgraders aren’t annual phone-buyers, and that similar shape has not stopped case manufacturers from releasing a new deluge of phone cases for us to test.I’ve spent the last few weeks compiling and testing as many cases as I can. And I have great news: There are a ton of awesome options. So many, in fact, that I’ve decided to highlight a few options in every category. From classic clear cases that highlight the iPhone’s color to elegant leather cases, and rugged cases that provide maximum protection, there are a lot of great cases. For now, if you’re looking for an iPhone 18 Pro (or Pro Max) case, these are the ones that have made a strong impression on me so far.Before You Begin ShoppingAs always, the most important thing to know before you browse the carefully curated selection below is that higher damage protection usually means a bulkier case. With extra padding and, on some occasions, a multilayer construction, the latter can make your iPhone less pocket-friendly, especially if you’re already carrying an XXL 18 Pro Max.Thankfully, the design and materials used to make these accessories have evolved significantly over the past couple of decades, leading to cases that balance toughness and design appeal. Still, if your lifestyle involves dropping your phone frequently or other scenarios where damage is likely, don’t hesitate to grab a beefier protective case.The Best Clear iPhone 18 Pro CasesA clear case lets you show off your new phone while keeping it pristine and protected from drops. After trying them on my phone, I can confirm that every option in this group can handle a drop and keeps your phone looking sharp.The Zagg Santa Cruz, my favorite in this bunch, offers an excellent balance between damage protection and extra usability via its built-in viewing stand. The Rokform Crystal case, on the other hand, is a heavy-duty option made to pair with the brand’s bike and motorcycle mounts.Shop Our Favorite Rugged CasesThese are the big boys. The rugged cases are made to handle drops from high places and prevent your phone from getting crushed (within reason). Everybody knows about OtterBox, and the Defender Series remains a safe go-to if you need to make your iPhone 18 Pro almost indestructible. That said, my favorite here is the UAG Monarch Pro, which is a little more sleek and stylish, but still offers tremendous durability. Depending on your taste, you can order it clad in carbon fiber, leather, or Kevlar.Shop Our Favorite Leather CasesA leather phone case is the closest you can get to putting your iPhone in a suit. A leather case is usually a bit more expensive than a standard plastic polymer option, but imparts an elegance unlike any other option. And, the longer you have your phone, the better the case looks, since real leather develops a unique patina over time based on how you wear it out.Nomad has been my longstanding go-to for leather cases, and makes a few great options, including heavier rugged cases and partially clear covers. The latter is new this year, and features a swath of genuine Horween leather on the back.Shop Our Favorite Minimalist CasesMinimalist cases only provide a cursory amount of protection against scratches and low drops, but do so while adding as little bulk or heft as possible. MNML, a new line from case-maker dbrand, adds an exciting new slim case this year that’s thin and light, with a rugged finish.
