HBO Max and Peacock are the new homes of the 21st century's best science-fiction thriller series. This genre combination has delivered some of the best shows in the past 15 years, including Severance, Silo, Black Mirror, Pluribus, Dark Matter, 3 Body Problem, Andor, and Dark. All of these shows have received critical acclaim and high streaming viewership, including Severance and then Pluribus becoming Apple TV's most-watched show of all time. Many of the aforementioned sci-fi thrillers have also been recognized by the Emmy Awards, with Severance winning 10 Emmys, Pluribus winning six, Black Mirror winning six, and Andor winning five, with victories in major categories that include Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, and Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series. While it did not receive quite as much recognition, arguably the best sci-fi thriller of the 21st century is Orphan Black. Orphan Black Is Now Streaming On HBO & Peacock All five seasons of Orphan Black are now available to stream on HBO and Peacock. According to Deadline, this was made possible by Boat Rocker Studios closing new U.S. deals for the show to stream on these platforms. The series was previously on Netflix for a year, beginning on September 1, 2025, and ending on August 31, 2026. Orphan Black season 1 has Sarah Manning (Tatiana Maslany) discovering that she is one of many identical clones after witnessing a tragedy. Maslany plays 17 different clones throughout the series, for which she received three Emmy Award nominations and one win, as the characters fight to survive, protect their loved ones, and understand why they were created while dealing with nefarious forces. Many of the scenes involve the distinct clones interacting with one another, providing a masterclass in acting and a story that thoughtfully explores questions of identity and scientific ethics. Orphan Black's Story Goes Beyond The Original Show Sophie Giraud/©AMC/Courtesy Everett Collection While Orphan Black ends on a conclusive note with season 5, its story goes beyond the seasons now streaming on HBO Max and Peacock. A spinoff series, Orphan Black: Echoes, was released in 2024, following a woman named Lucy (Krysten Ritter), who has no memory of who she is. Since it is set 37 years after the original show, the spinoff mostly features new characters, although a few established ones do appear and play important roles. Echoes was canceled after one season, but it isn't the only extension of the franchise, as an audio drama podcast, Orphan Black: The Next Chapter, came out in 2021. It is narrated by Maslany and serves as a more direct sequel to the events of the original series. Viewers only need to watch the five seasons of Orphan Black to get the core story, though, which can now be re-watched or experienced for the first time on HBO Max and Peacock.
