The 10 Best Weapons In Phantom Blade Zero, Ranked

The 10 Best Weapons In Phantom Blade Zero, Ranked

Phantom Blade Zero has an eye-watering 30 weapons. They fall into three categories: One-Handed, Two-Handed, and Dual-Wield, and each can be used in different ways. But with great options comes great responsibility, and choosing which ones to use can be a challenge. Thankfully, after over 60 hours with the game, we've toyed around with them all and have definitively ranked what we think is the top 10 in our humble, expert opinion. Minor spoilers for Phantom Blade Zero weapons ahead. Also, it's worth noting that some weapons may be better than others, situationally. 10 Baishan Stormswords Damage Status Effects Level 1 312 142 Level 30 1,217 553 The Baishan Stormswords are one of the most fun weapons in Phantom Blade Zero. Harnessing the power of Wind and Thunder, these Dualswords pack a punch. Their elemental powers are extremely useful, especially the Thunder, which can paralyze enemies where they stand. Standard attacks build the Wind Gauge and Sha-Chi attacks the Thunder, and when both are full, you'll gain Baishan's Blessing, where attack power is increased for 20 seconds. As you level it up, it becomes easier to fill both gauges. With Baishan's Blessing active, you can use the powerful Lightning Storm ability, which devastates the battlefield. This ability is only enhanced further when Soul Tempered. Pairs great with the Feather Fan Plume and Thundermoon Lantern accessories, making it an absolute mid-game force. 9 White Serpent & Crimson Viper Damage Guard Break 260 110 1,014 428 Another Dual-Wield weapon up next, this time the White Serpent and Crimson Viper. What it lacks in raw damage compared to the Baishan Stormswords, it makes up for in utility, and there is no waiting for gauges to charge. You can use one of the swords as a barrier, sending it floating around you in a circle. When Soul Tempered, if you recall the blade early, you'll summon Hundred-Knot Serpents to assist you in battle. It offers a nice range between melee combat and ranged, and is another great mid-game choice. 8 Outlaw Warblade Damage Guard Break 240 106 936 415 The Outlaw Warblade is one of our favorite early-game weapons. It's great for learning how heavy Two-Handers work, and it absolutely shreds enemy shields, something you'll encounter early on. Its biggest boon, however, is that it restores HP when damaging enemies. Given your limited healing resources early on, this is huge. Its buffs and perks are all related to gaining HP and the recoverable HP Soul has in his HP bar. It's a bit of a balancing act, but the more you're damaged, the more damage you deal, and the more HP you can recover. Even if you ignore that, it will take chunks out of your enemies. 7 Whiteshadow Damage Status Effects Level 1 308 144 Level 30 1,200 562 The White Shadow can only be found if you're completing the Acolyte mission in Phantom Blade Zero. It's worth doing that mission just for this weapon, but it's also vital for the Perfect Ending. It's the second elemental weapon on this list, dealing Ice damage, which can freeze enemies for you to punish. As you level it up, you'll build the enemy's Frost Gauge faster and even gain the ability to zip to frozen enemies. Soul Tempering it means you can continue to build the enemy's Frost Gauge even when they block attacks. Pairs perfectly with the Acolyte Icicle accessory, giving your foes a truly frosty reception. 6 Shadowless Edge Damage Guard Break 324 120 1,426 528 Based on raw power alone, the Shadowless Edge could be far higher up this list. It's the fact that it's locked behind the Sanguine Twin for so long that brings it down. As one of three of Soul's signature weapons, it's a monster. It shreds through enemies, and even has the ability to summon a second Soul to help you fight for a period of time (think Elden Ring's Mimic Tear). It's incredibly rapid, and at level 5 can use the Chi-Infused Blade ability, which powers it up further. If you're a Dual-Wield player, this is up there with the best. 5 Aureate Damage Guard Break 324 120 1,264 468 The Aureate is another weapon held back by how long it takes to unlock. You'll only be able to use it after earning Phantom Blade Zero's Perfect Ending, making it great for NG+ runs, but impossible for a first playthrough. It's a powerful sword on its own, but every time you land a Sha-Chi attack, you'll summon a golden sword that goes hurtling towards the enemy hit. If an enemy has five swords in them, they trigger a devastating Sword Energy Burst. This is only improved as you level the weapon up, making it, quite frankly, unstoppable. 4 Blazing Edge Damage Status Effects Level 1 312 132 Level 30 1,217 513 The Blazing Edge could quite easily take the top spot, but again, like the Sanguine Twin, is only unlocked late on by completing the Loong Pillars. It's an incredibly powerful Two-Handed sword, that, when enough Sha-Chi attacks land, sets aflame, giving it the ability to deal Fire damage and burn enemies. Using a Remnant Spark unleashes a giant flame pillar towards enemies, dealing massive damage. It has great reach, as you might expect, given its prior "Sanguine Reach" name, and is a weapon I had a lot of fun playing around with in the game's final segments, especially the areas covered in snow. Be sure to pair it with the Feather Fan Plume accessory. 3 Freezing Chaos Damage Status Effects Level 1 324 144 Level 30 1,264 562 Freezing Chaos is one of the most complex weapons, not only because of its unlock requirements. Following notes in the Mirage Estate, you'll see you need to beat a specific boss with the Blazing Edge. Upon doing so, you'll unlock this weapon. You can switch between three different forms, Steel, Frost, and Chaos, each of which is incredibly useful in a variety of situations. It's a tricky one to master, balancing the switch between each form and battling foes, but it's one that if perfected, becomes one of the most powerful weapons in the late game. 2 Jagged Steel Damage Guard Break 240 124 936 482 From one of the late-game weapons, to one of the earliest. The Jagged Steel could, realistically, carry you through the entire game. I used it in one of my two weapons slots until the very last sections of Phantom Blade Zero, because its ability to proc Bleed was too much to part with. The level 25 Frenzied Blood Blade ability means it procs Bleed faster, and its Soul Temper ability, which procs Bleed even when enemies block, makes it a machine. Its only drawback is that it doesn't Bleed puppets, but combine it with the Livingwood Talisman, and you have a genuinely incredible weapon. 1 Crescent Blade Damage Guard Break 312 118 1,217 460 My favorite weapon in Phantom Blade Zero is the Crescent Blade. It's slow, chunky, and absolutely annihilates enemies and their Sha-Chi meters. It has the ability to bless Soul with the Qinglong Form, which gives him the Qinglong Cleave ability, one-hit KOing weaker enemies. It has great range, great power, and a great range of attacks, making it my number one pick in the entire game. Honorable Mention: The Fanatic's Drunken Sword is great fun to use. It has really varied moveset and mixes up close-range and ranged combat.
