Before their joint post-match interview with Sky Sports, in which someone in the tunnel joked that the award was ‘rigged’, a baffled Rogers said: “Mate, I got four assists. “Nah, nah, nah. I can’t believe that. That is mental…he scored a pen!” Palmer was quick to defend his winning of the trophy, saying: “I started the comeback. “I’ll shout you out and say you should’ve had it, don’t worry about that.” Rogers fired back: “Don’t mention me; I’m just a bystander. That is criminal.” Footage of the pair’s light-hearted argument spread like wildfire on social media. The Spaniard said of his decision to leave out his star players: “I take responsibility. No player to blame, it’s a decision that we took. First half things were not going the way we wanted. “When you do not have time to work with [the squad players], it’s difficult to compete at this level. It’s my responsibility. “We need to analyse, but happy that we are going through, happy with the reaction.” Chelsea will be back in action on Saturday afternoon, welcoming Hull City to Stamford Bridge.
