The iconic MCU villain won’t be a playable character, at least not yet, but the mode that will introduce him to the game sounds pretty special. Thanos Is Bringing Endgame To Rivals As is often the case when Thanos shows up in comics, movies, and now a hero shooter, in Rivals, players will be tasked with teaming up to take him down. Not just in a standard team of six, but as a team of 50 in an all-new mode that will see scores of you working together to defeat Thanos and his army. If you think that’s starting to sound a little bit like Rivals is about to have a mode where you can play through Avengers: Endgame’s final battle with a rotating roster of heroes and villains, you’d be right. It’s exactly that. Not only will you be teaming up with 49 other players, but the battleground on which you will throw down with Thanos will be the ruins of the Avengers compound, just like it is in Endgame after Nebula successfully brings her father through time to lay waste to Earth’s Mightiest Heroes’ HQ. On Your Left We’ve not been shown how that will look in-game, but it sounds a lot like we’re going to feel like we’re reliving one of the most iconic moments in movie history every time we start a new match and face off against Thanos. I’m no Captain America main, but if the mode includes someone saying “on your left” as the match begins when you play as Cap’, I’ll be The First Avenger every single time. We may not have been shown the stage on which we will do battle alongside 49 allies, but we have been shown the Titan with which we will wage war. Thanos’s Rivals design is clearly modeled after his MCU look, right down to the Infinity Gauntlet. Yes, the big bad is bringing the Infinity Stones with him, so it’s almost certainly going to be pretty difficult to take him down. Thanos will arrive in Marvel Rivals as part of the new PvE mode on October 22, so only a couple of weeks to wait. Whether he will later be added as a playable character hasn’t been confirmed. Just because he’s about to be in the game doesn’t mean that, much like the Titan himself, that eventuality is inevitable. Doctor Doom and Knull are both villains who have played key roles in Rivals’ modes and ongoing story, but so far neither has made the jump from story villain to playable character.
