Thailand updates visa-free duration and entry rules for Omani travellers

Muscat: The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Bangkok has informed Omani citizens that Thailand will amend its visa-exemption regulations for tourism purposes, reducing the permitted visa-free stay from 60 days to 30 days, effective September 15, 2026. Under the revised regulations, Omani passport holders will continue to benefit from visa-free entry to Thailand for tourism, but the maximum permitted stay will be 30 days. The change is part of Thailand’s wider revision of its visa-exemption measures. The Omani Embassy clarified that the amendment will not apply retroactively. Omani citizens who enter Thailand before September 15 will retain the period of stay granted to them upon entry.For travellers entering Thailand through land border checkpoints, visa exemption will be limited to two entries per calendar year, according to the embassy’s advisory.The embassy also stressed that registration through the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) system remains a mandatory requirement for entry. Travellers are required to complete the registration and obtain the necessary approval before travelling through the official platform.
