TfL fare dodger caught using invalid card to avoid paying for £3,700 worth of journeys

He was wanted for 530 counts of fare evasion, amounting to £3,700 worth of unpaid fares. The fare dodger had been shirking the fares by using an invalid or declined card. Officers spend hours matching footage with dates and times to successfully locate suspects.It comes as the capital finds itself amidst a “fare-dodging epidemic”, with an estimated 3.5 per cent of the 3.6 billion annual passenger journeys across the TfL network going unpaid.
