Texas Supreme Court won’t remove Democrats from office

AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Supreme Court denied Governor Greg Abbott and Attorney General Ken Paxton’s motions for writs of quo warranto, seeking to have Democrats who left the state to break quorum last summer removed from office. The Texas Constitution worked as it should “without judicial intervention,” and any punishment for breaking quorum should be dispensed by the House members, not the judicial branch, to preserve the balance of powers.
