Texas man allegedly murdered wife, then called his mom in a panic

NewsA Texas man was charged with first-degree murder after his mother alerted police that he confessed to killing his estranged wife.Patti Sapone | NJ Advance Media A Texas man has been charged with murdering his estranged wife after police say he confessed to his mother, then lied to investigators about her whereabouts while her body was hidden in his garage.According to Dallas TV station WFAA, Plano police officers were called Aug. 12 to the apartment of Jake Bigoni, 37, after someone requested a wellness check on Eliana Bigoni. An unidentified caller said she was going through a divorce and that her friends and family were having trouble reaching her.Eliana was also on her way to pick up the two kids, ages 2 and 5, whom the couple shared custody of, and take them to school. Eliana’s mother and a friend tracked her location to Bigoni’s apartment.When officers arrived, Bigoni answered the door with what they described as a large wet spot on his shirt, which he said came from cleaning. He claimed his estranged wife had come by earlier to pick up one of the kids, whom he said was sick, but that she had already left.Bigoni’s mother then called police and said her son had confessed to her over the phone.“I have something to tell you,” Bigoni allegedly told his mother 30 minutes before police arrived, according to an affidavit. “She’s dead. We got in a fight and she’s dead.”Officers returned to Bigoni’s apartment, where one noticed the stain was reddish-brown. After detaining Bigoni, they began searching the home for Eliana. Her body was found in the trunk of a car in the garage. The affidavit stated that it appeared there had been an altercation and that Eliana had injuries to her head and face. Blood spatter was also found inside the apartment. The children were found unharmed.Bigoni was charged with first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse.
