TESCO has urged shoppers not to eat a classic sandwich filler over allergen fears. The retailer has urgently recalled the product and apologised for the inconvenience caused. Affecting packs with the use by date of September 4, 2026, those with mustard allergies or intolerances have been urged to “not eat” the product. In a written statement, the retailer said: “Tesco is recalling a specific date code of Tesco Finest Caesar & Smoked Bacon Coleslaw 270g, as some packsmay contain Tesco Finest Four Cheese Potato Salad, which contains mustard. “This means the product may pose a risk to anyone with an allergy to mustard.” Shoppers are able to return the product to any Tesco store for a full refund, with no receipt required. Alternatively, they are also able to contact the support team for more information. Tesco said it was “sorry for the inconvenience caused” and that no other products had been affected by the recall. According to Allergy UK, mustard is one of the top 14 allergens that must be declared under UK food labelling laws and can trigger allergic reactions even when present in small amounts.
